Akercocke and Ingested and the Underworld

metaldazza / Oct. 19, 2009, 10:59 a.m.

On Friday Akercocke and Ingested destroyed the Underworld. NMA was there to film the destruction:

Ingested - Contorted Perception

Ingested - Intercranial Semen Injection

Ingested - Anal Evisceration

Akercocke - Man Without Faith or Trust

Akercocke - Praise the Name of Satan

Akercocke - Scapegoat

Akercocke - Son of the Morning

Paradise Lost: Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us

metaldazza / Oct. 14, 2009, 2:32 p.m.

This is a true return to form for the band that led the doom charge but seemed to loose it's darker side about 10 years ago. There are echoes of all the albums from Icon and Draconian Times up but importantly you can hear a lot more of Icon and Draconian Times then the others.

This is a chilling video from the title track. Poor lass, it looks cold in her hair dressers:

VBS: Heavy Metal Roadshow [video]

metaldazza / Oct. 14, 2009, 1:43 p.m.

Despite being the birth place of Heavy Metal the UK has always suffered from fans and the press gravitating towards more polished and some would say more professional American bands leaving the home grown scene a little under nourished.

For the last two years the tide seems to be turning with bands like Evile, Gama Bomb, Warpath, Savage Messiah and Pitiful Reign (to name but a few) spreading their wings, getting their act together, touring relentlessly and releasing strong EP's and Albums.

VBS.tv sent Iano Dovi over to the UK to investigate the scene on it's 40th anniversary and it's a pretty interesting documentary:

RIP Mike Alexander

metaldazza / Oct. 7, 2009, 10:50 p.m.

A few days ago Mike Alexander, the bassist in Evile, passed away while on tour. He felt ill, went to hospital and didn't make it.

I wasn't lucky enough to know Mike personally but I've followed Evile since their Hell demo in 1996 and seen the every time they've played in London. Every member of Evile give 100% on stage and Mike was no exception.

New Metal Army exists because of Evile. After seeing them live they inspired me to start NMA. To try and promote the scene as much as I could. People like Mike work their arses off and bring so much joy to so many people. Every Evile song bring a smile to my face: it's an awesome world I live in if I can hear such insane power.

If you'd like to donate some money towards Mike's Family in their hour of need then please head on over to UK Thrash and click on the Donate button on the left.

Thanks Mike.
