Small updates to site.

metaldazza Fri 25 Apr 2008 13:27 (nine months ago)

I've released a new update to New Metal Army.

  • Google search integration, you can now search N.M.A. easily
  • You section now has cleaner tabs with little icons
  • There is some help in the You section so you know what's going on
  • I've changed all of the icons on the site to make it cleaner
  • Smaller page size. I've removed a load of crap from the pages so they should load a little faster.

NB: You only see the you section if you are logged on so register or login

Cloven Hoof tonight... yipeee

be seeing you

British Steel Festival III

metaldazza Wed 23 Apr 2008 02:02 (nine months ago)

I'm going to go to the British Steel Festival this weekend at the Underworld. I've never heard of any of the bands but it's gonna be a laugh anyway.

On the friday before there is a gig at Bar Monsta as well featuring Dark Forest who I'd love to see again.

Gigs around the country

metaldazza Thu 17 Apr 2008 15:42 (nine months ago)

I think the view of gigs on New Metal Army is pretty cool. It lets you drill down to your area pretty quickly and soon I'll turn on the code so the website knows where you are so it will just show you gigs near you!

I have started to notice that there are a LOT more gigs in London then anywhere else. So here are the stats:

 114 | London
  39 | Manchester
  37 | Glasgow
  29 | Sheffield
  20 | Bristol
  18 | Leeds
  17 | Birmingham
  16 | Nottingham
  11 | Southampton
  11 | Brighton
  10 | Wolverhampton

This table shows all the metal gigs from today onwards that NMA knows about in each city (I've excluded towns with less than 10 gigs). There is an amazing leap from Manchester to London. Why are there so few metal gigs in Birmingham? It's the second most populous city after London. More to the point it's the home of Sabbath and Priest. Have all the brummies stopped listening to metal?

More Gigs...

metaldazza Thu 10 Apr 2008 17:08 (nine months ago)

I've fixed a major shortcoming in the gig code today. A lot of gigs are not listed as 'metal' gigs so I was ignoring them... this means gigs like Death Angel were ignored. So now I trawl through all gigs listed as Rock as well looking for band names the site recognises. Now there are an extra 250 gigs to be verified. I'll verify them over the next day or two and get them listed .

I've been in a pretty good mood since the Exodus/Evile/Gama Bomb gig. I had a really good time and no hangover this time despite much beer being drunk :rotate:.

Anyway, a few small bugs on the site to fix and then on to the next secret feature :ninja:.

be seeing you

Fools, fools.... everyone's a fool

metaldazza Tue 01 Apr 2008 00:52 (nine months ago)

Some classic April fool shit going down on heavy metal websites. Metal Storm has decided to only cover black metal from now on and UK Thrash is being investigated for 'possible prosecution by Madeliene's Fund for defamation and libel, and also regarding one separate incident of common assault involving forum members at a recent gig'.

Good stuff, I on the other hand am far too lazy to be bothered with April tom foolery... plus I've still got a headache from the Dismember gig
